Language is important. Mark says Jesus “took the bread, blessed it, broke it and gave it” (Mark 6).
The miracle foreshadows the Last Supper, when Jesus, took, blessed, broke and gave bread, which he says is his body and blood.
But then the Last Supper foreshadows Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Jesus was taken, blessed, broken and given for us in his supreme act of love.
But then this is the Eucharist and this is us. We are to let ourselves be taken, blessed, broken and given.
What would the Eucharist mean if this was not the case?
