Studying Catholicism

Are you looking for a stronger connection to your faith? Do you simply want to know more about Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Church? By studying Catholicism, we can understand its rich history and our role as Catholics in a modern world.

At a Parish level

Many parishes have programs or events that support Catholic faith formation. These opportunities should be advertised in the parish bulletin or website. You can find your parish here.

At an Archdiocesan level

Some of these programs, such as the Faith and Catholic Theology courses, are fully accredited tertiary education programs that lead to nationally recognised certificates. These programs include multiple units of study that provide a foundation in theology. On completion, your certificate may be credited toward further study.

Non-accredited courses and seminars are another way to connect with your faith. These shorter sessions and workshops provide opportunities to listen to expert speakers, discuss the Catholic faith, or prepare for lay leadership roles within the Church.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is another form of study for those who would like to become Catholic. You can learn more about this Rite on our Becoming Catholic page.
