Accountant

The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference is seeking dedicated and conscientious person to fill the position of Accountant.  Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for administering the daily accounting services of the General Secretariat of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference offices.  This is a full-time position based in Braddon , ACT.

As the Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Administering the payroll system
  • Administering the credit card system
  • Providing professional accounting support and advice, including reviewing and reporting on financial reports
  • Reviewing audited financial statements
  • Maintaining financial systems and processes
  • Verifying accounts payable, accounts receivable and petty cash
  • Managing the asset register and depreciation
  • Developing procedures for implementation by the Finance Manager in the area of taxation law

You will have a tertiary qualification in accounting or a related discipline, proven experience in management of a financial system, a good understanding and knowledge of the processes involved in an electronic payroll system and experience in working in a small team without close supervision.  You will have experience in using Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and the MYOB suite of accounting software.
