The Gift of our Children
Professional Standards and Safeguarding
“Truly children are a gift from the Lord, a blessing, the fruit of the womb”
Children are a gift from God; a gift to be treasured, a gift to be nurtured, a gift to be kept safe. The Catholic community of the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn cherishes the gift of our children.
Children have an intrinsic right to dignity of life, respect and protection from harm.
Guided by the Archbishop’s commitment to this understanding, and informed by the Royal Commission’s Child Safe Standards and the draft National Catholic Safeguarding Standards, the Archdiocese has developed a series of support documents to assist each Parish and faith community in implementing the Archdiocesan Safeguarding Policy.
These safeguarding policy and procedure documents are in DRAFT form and open for community consultation. They can be found under the Safeguarding Documents section of this site. Constructive comments and questions about these draft documents can be emailed to the Institute for Professional Standards and Safeguards at email@example.com until 30 November 2018.
