Easter is a meaningful and powerful time in the Church. We re-live Jesus’ experience of being put to the cross and rising again, with their accompanying joys and sorrows. The Church has some beautiful liturgies over the Easter weekend to walk us through this experience.
Holy Thursday – Revisits the last supper, with foot washing and bread breaking. Entering a time of prayer leading towards Good Friday. Click here for a Taize version of “Stay with me,” a hymn often used at this liturgy.
Good Friday – The Stations of the Cross, reenacted or of reflection-style, and an afternoon Veneration of the Cross liturgy focusing on the Crucifixion of Jesus.
Easter Sunday – Easter Vigil Mass (Saturday night) or Easter Sunday Mass celebrating the resurrection of Jesus and His triumph over death.
