Matt Casey Retires

Long-serving employee, Matt Casey was farewelled recently as the organisation moved into its new home at St Christopher’s Centre, Manuka. Employees and other members of the Catholic community gathered for a cocktail evening seeing Matt Casey into his retirement after his nine years spent working with the Archdiocese. As the Institute for Professional Standards and Safeguarding (IPSS) Manager, Mr Casey played an integral part of the Archdiocese before, during, and after the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Mr Casey accompanied Archbishop Christopher Prowse at the Royal Commission hearings in Sydney earlier this year and was instrumental in coordinating the Liturgy of Lament as well as the Listening Sessions. At the farewell, Archdiocesan Vicar General Fr Tony Percy spoke of his long association with the retiree and wished him well in the future.

Mr Casey paid tribute to the people he had worked alongside and said it was a joy to have worked for the Archdiocese. He says he leaves his position in the capable hands of Maria Hicks.
