Tutored Wine Tasting

For Engaged and Newly Married Couples

Young married and engaged couples gathered at Clonakilla Winery last Saturday evening for the inaugural Archdiocesan “Engaged and Newly Married” event. These events, while sponsored by the Archdiocese, are not religious in nature. They are social events aimed at supporting and encouraging young couples by enabling them to have a fun and affordable night out, link in with other engaged and newly married couples, learn some relationship skills and hear about marriage support opportunities such as Ministry to the Newly Married. The evening was also attended by older couples involved in marriage education programs.

30 guests braved the stormy weather to drive out to picturesque Murrumbateman. There was an excited hubbub in the room throughout the evening, interspersed with short breaks to listen to 2013 Australian Wine Maker of the Year, Tim Kirk, wax lyrical about the joys of wine appreciation. The wines and venue were donated by Clonakilla Winery and the seemingly endless train of delicious finger food was supplied by Mana Catering, Murrumbateman.

SmartLoving Engaged supplied a short video clip and reference cards about “values based conflict resolution” and guests were given a few minutes to workshop these helpful ideas as a couples before the eating, drinking and merry making continued. To find out about future events for young married and engaged couples contact lara.kirk@cg.org.au
