Ever felt lost?

I once got myself lost in the Canberra Hills, and as it got dark, cold and rainy, I felt completely stuck. When eventually I saw distant lights, I yelled for help, and my rescuing Park Rangers followed the noise until they had me safe.

Why is it that we find it so hard to admit that we need rescuing in our everyday lives?

We all have the same desperate need for a redeemer, and our redeemer longs to set us free. The Gospel tells us this is the reason why he came into the world. How crazy would it be to hide rather than expose ourselves as needy and lost? Shame can have a powerful hold on us.

Lord teach us to live in the reality of our need and to ask each day for your intervention, which ultimately makes us as unstoppable as the saints and martyrs.
