Rejoice Be Glad 9

The Gospel is difficult:

“If anyone hits you on the right cheek, offer him the other as well; if a man takes you to law and would have your tunic, let him have your cloak as well” (Matt 5).

Pope Francis makes sense when he teaches that “if we are unable to suffer and offer up a few humiliations then we are not humble.”

We don’t choose to be humble. No, “humility only takes root in the heart through humiliations.”

In humiliation we “resemble Jesus; it is an unavoidable aspect of the imitation of Christ.”

Amen.
