Utterly Marvellous
15 October 2018
Today’s first reading for the feast of St. Teresa of Avila (1515-1582) is from Romans 8. It is an important reading for our inner life:
“The Spirit too comes to help us in our weakness.”
We are invited to “pray in the Spirit” for, after all, we have been “baptised in the Spirit.” That’s right. We have been “immersed” in the Spirit. That’s what the word means.
Why try and pray on your own when you’re not alone? How foolish. Just invoke the Spirit.
And the Holy Spirit will arise and pray in you. How utterly marvellous!
Amen.
