It’s Imminent
29 November 2018
There is a curious line in the Catechism of the Catholic Church which may well help you in interpreting the unusual Gospel today:
Since the Ascension, Christ’s coming in glory has been imminent, even … if both it and the final trial that will precede it are “delayed” (CCC 673).
As Christians we “look back” to relive Christ’s life. Using our mind, heart and imagination, we accompany Jesus in his hidden life, his public life, his paschal mystery.
But, we must not forget that we “look forward” to his glorious coming. For this second coming is imminent!
Amen.
