Get Up

This is the original “Get Up:”

“Jesus said to the paralysed man – ‘I order you: get up, and pick up your stretcher and go home’” (Luke 5).

Jesus demonstrates his authority to forgive sins by his power to heal the paralysed.

That’s what sin is – a perverse form of paralysis, impeding our “true self” from emerging from the “shadows.”

God, on the other hand, releases and liberates:

“The eyes of the blind are opened, the ears of the deaf unsealed, the lame leap like a deer and the tongues of the dumb sing for joy” (Isaiah 35).

Amen.
