‘Next gen’ ask the bigger questions

THE NEXT generation of Canberra’s Disciples of Jesus Community asked one of life’s bigger questions at this year’s Explosion Youth Conference.

More than 100 young people between 12 and 18 gathered at Daramalan College to take part in the annual event which celebrated its 10th anniversary.

The conference theme was based on the following Clive Staples Lewis quote:

‘If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in the world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.’

Many of the Archdiocesan secondary schools were represented as were a number of parishes and other ecclesial movements.

Year 8 student Bernadette Madsen said the conference was a chance to connect with her faith.

“I now feel more connected with God and understand more about how he wants me to live as a Catholic,” she said.

Jake Wegner, a year 12 student from St Francis Xavier College said, “I think that Explosion creates a safe, and educated place to explore your faith and spirituality, with no stress and all the support you need.”
