Liturgical Resources

“Through which the work of our redemption is accomplished,” most of all in the divine sacrifice of the Eucharist, is the outstanding means whereby the faithful may express in their lives, and manifest to others, the mystery of Christ and the real nature of the true Church. Sacrosanctum Concilium, 2.

In the documents below you will discover some of the ways in which the laity can fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist. These guidelines are provided to assist the laity in fulfilling the various liturgical ministries that would normally be undertaken in a parish Mass setting.

In our Archdiocese, there will be times when a priest is not available for the celebration of the Eucharist.  The Archbishop, through his priests, may therefore give permission for the Celebration of the Word and Communion to be celebrated by the faithful.  Formation and training of the laity for such a celebration is very important.  Guidelines and instructions to conduct such liturgies are found below.
