Sharon Brewer
Sharon is passionate about building stronger parishes. The parish is where so much of our faith is nurtured: the local parish school, in the celebration of sacraments, the community, in our prayers and pastoral care for each other and of course in the celebration of the Eucharist.
Sharon has always been drawn to parish life. “The parish should be a place for everyone, and if it’s not, then we must find ways of making it so. Our baptism calls us to be disciples, and whilst that can sound like a very ‘holy’ statement it is what God calls us to do – in our own way, in our families, in our parish and in the wider community”. Sharon feels that her life has been blessed because of the wonderful Catholic communities she has been involved with as a young person growing up on the south coast of NSW, Milton/Ulladulla Parish and as an adult in one of our largest parishes, Corpus Christi Parish, South Tuggeranong.
Sharon is married to John with four children ranging in age from 16 – 27. She has a Diploma in Theology, and is slowly turning that into a degree. Her past paid work has been in administration and adult education. She has worked and volunteered in many capacities supporting parish life, especially in sacramental preparation and hospitality ministry.
Sharon is currently the Editor of My Family My Faith, a job she thoroughly enjoys as it gives her many opportunities to meet many ordinary, yet very extraordinary families in our Archdiocese.
