POSITION: Parish Support and Safeguarding Development Officer
REPORTS TO: Manager, Institute of Professional Standards and Safeguarding, Archdiocesan Chancellor
NOMINAL HRS PER WEEK: 38 hrs/week, Permanent, Full time

Parish Support Duties:

  • Develop and deliver training modules for Parish staff on PACS database administration, finance, and compliance in partnership with the Parish Support Manager.
  • Coordinate and execute Deanery Training Days and Parish Staff Seminars, including organising venues, logistics, and facilitating feedback.
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders, manage required correspondence, and contribute to ongoing projects directed by the Parish Support Manager.
  • Independently manage administrative tasks, filing systems, and provide necessary support for training and compliance initiatives.

Safeguarding Duties

  • Work with Parishes to ensure the administrative components of safeguarding standards are implemented, including:
  • Implement safeguarding measures, including checklists, Child Protection Codes of Conduct, and volunteer agreements, while ensuring compliance with WWCC/WWVP regulations.
  • Provide training and support for Parish Safeguarding Volunteers, clergy, and parish staff through email arrangements, quarterly sessions, and maintaining training registers.
  • Maintain administrative systems, clergy registers, and Chancery documentation for WWCC, safeguarding requirements, and Accreditation processes.
  • Liaise with the IPSS Manager, assist new clergy with safeguarding protocols, and prepare submissions for Australian Catholic Safeguarding Limited (ACSL).

Catechist Duties

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support for Special Religious Education (SRE) and Parish School of Religion (PSoR), including training, compliance, and accreditation management.
  • Coordinate and maintain regular communication with catechists, the Formation Coordinator, and the Archdiocesan Chancellor to ensure smooth operations and adherence to policies.
  • Organise annual and term-based training, formation days, and conferences, including logistics such as catering, venues, resources, and guest speakers.
  • Liaise effectively with the NSW Department of Education, ensuring compliance by submitting required documentation and hosting events as part of diocesan responsibilities.

Chancery Reception Duties

  • Manage incoming calls and mail, ensuring distribution to the appropriate staff.
  • Provide support by handling bookings and general enquiries when the EA is unavailable.
